Types of Trips

Typical types of hikes included in the trip schedule include:

Day trips - Leave Red Deer the morning of the trip, hike during the day and return home that evening.

Backpack trips - Hike into a back country campsite and carry your tent, sleeping bag, and everything else you'll need in your backpack.

Scrambles - The easiest way to describe scrambling is "technical hiking" - terrain is steep, "hands on" may be required, moderate to severe exposure. Ropes and climbing equipment are not required.

Safety / Equipment

Hiking can be very rewarding however there are dangers out there that you should be aware of and prepared for. The Banff National Park has a good Backcountry Visitors Guide which includes a good overview of some common hazards out there. They also have an equipment checklist available.
